Mr. Guo’s main areas of practice are: Mergers and Acquisitions, Debt Restructuring, Financing, Intellectual Property, Litigation and Arbitration.
Mr. Guo provides legal service to various multi-national corporations, local and foreign financial institutions, and enterprises of local or foreign investment. He has clients from various sectors, such as banks, trusts, companies and the commercial sector. He has represented renowned companies from China and overseas in doing project structure designs, negotiating contracts, exchanging stocks, acquiring assets, restructuring companies and doing bankruptcy and liquidation work. Mr. Guo is also very experienced in dealing with banking business, such as syndicated loans, venture capital, secured transactions and project financing, and has handled litigations and arbitrations of many major and complicated financial cases.
Mr. Guo was a lecturer at China University of Politics and Law. He studied and worked in Germany from 1990 to 1999. During his stay in Germany, he had several years of working experience at KRUPP AG and LINKLATERS & ALLIANCE. From 1999 to 2001 he practiced in Beijing Jian Yuan Law Firm. In 2001, he became a founding partner of Beijing Guo and Partners.
Mr. Guo obtained his LL.B. and LL.M. degrees in Economic Law from China University of Politics and Law in 1983 and 1986 respectively. In 1993 he also graduated with a LL.M. degree in Comparative Business Law from Bonn University, Germany, and in 1997 as Ph.D. in International Investment Law from Cologne University, Germany. He can work with a good command in German and English.
Mr. Guo is an arbitrator of China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission, expert consultant in legislation of the Standing Committee of the Beijing Municipal People’s Congress, Executive Director of Beijing Dongcheng District Association of Experts, Scholars and Notables, independent non-executive director of a listed company and the Vice-Chairman of the German and Austrian Branch of the Western Returned Scholars Association. Mr. Guo contributed to the legislation concerning the Company Law of the People's Republic of China.
