David Wan is a senior partner of Guo & Partners, one of leading firms in Beijing. David specializes in the area of corporate, M&A, international investment, litigation and arbitration.
David has practiced as a full time professional lawyer since 1994. He has rich practical experiences and has provided professional legal services for several hundred local and overseas companies. His clients include multi-national corporations and medium sized enterprises from many jurisdictions. He has also represented and provided legal services to a number of Chinese enterprises and local governments in foreign direct investment projects.
David has handled more than 800 litigation and arbitration cases involving commercial and foreign-related disputes. One of his cases was considered as “the biggest assets dispute since the establishment of the PRC”.
David joined Guo & Partners in 2004. Previously, he practiced in Beijing Guantao Law Firm, as the Managing Partner of the International Investment Department. From June 2000 to June 2001, David worked in Lawrence Graham, the 199 Strand in London, and Denton Wilde Sapte HK Office as visiting attorney sponsored by the PRC Ministry of Justice and the Bar Council and Law Society of England and Wales.
David obtained his legal qualification in securities industry in 1996 and has provided legal service and opinion for certain listing companies. David has provided legal opinions in terms of daily operation, compliance and corporate governance by provision of legal opinion and presence in Shareholders meetings and BOD meetings as legal consultant over years to many companies.
David graduated from North-west Political Science and Law College with an LL.B. degree in 1993 and obtained his LL.M. degree from Lanzhou University. David obtained legal qualification in Tender of Large and Medium Scale Construction Projects in 1998. David participated in the Program organized by the PRC Ministry of Justice and the Bar Council and Law Society of England and Wales, in which he studied British and European laws at the University of London. He is a visiting scholar of the University of Washington.
David is a director to the BOD of China Financial Education Foundation. David was the Legal Expert of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization. He was one of 15 arbitration lawyers designated by the International Arbitration Court for Sports during Beijing Olympic Games in 2008.
